James J. Hess, optometrist

James J. Hess, OD

Dr. Hess grew up in Paynesville, Minnesota. After attending the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate degree, he went to the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He has been practicing since 1979 and especially enjoys seeing all types of patient cases within the primary care realm. His hobbies include fishing, volunteer work, and spending time with his grandkids. Dr. Hess is also a nationwide leader within the VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) network, traveling to underserved optometric communities in third world nations to provide eye care and glasses. He is the recipient of many service awards within the optometric community.

J. Scott Endres, OD

Dr. Endres is originally from South Dakota. He now currently resides in the Maple Grove area. His undergraduate schooling took place at the University of South Dakota, where soon after he pursued his clinical doctorate of optometry in Chicago at the Illinois College of Optometry. He has been practicing since 1990 and enjoys fitting all types of contact lenses as well as managing refractive surgery cases and ocular disease. He loves to golf, run, travel, go to movies, read and spend time with his family.

Mary K. Laconic, OD

Dr. Laconic is from Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. After receiving her bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota, she traveled to California and attended optometry school at the University of California, Berkeley. She joined her father in practice for many years before joining Crystal Vision Clinic. Having practiced since 1977, she enjoys a wide spectrum of patient care. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, reading, traveling, and spending time at her cabin in the north woods of Minnesota.

Katie N. Tancabel, OD

Dr. Tancabel grew up in Litchfield, MN. After attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul for her bachelor’s degree, she attended optometry school in Chicago at the Illinois College of Optometry. She has been practicing optometry since 2008 and thoroughly enjoys all patient care, with an emphasis on ocular disease, the aging eye, and pediatric care. Dr. Tancabel is a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association, VOSH-Minnesota (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), and an InfantSEE provider. She loves to travel, read, play golf, watch movies, dance, and spend time with her family and friends.
